DPleak™ Differential Pressure Leak Test

DPleak™ is used to perform evaluations on Secondary and Spill Containment sumps, UDCs, and Spill buckets. DPleak™ was developed to help stakeholders comply with the 2015 UST EPA regulation revisions. 

Current sump testing methods are typically noncomprehensive or water intensive. These forms of testing may identify a leak, but not its exact location. Other non-hydrostatic tests typically can’t identify tank top leaks and may not properly operate in certain conditions like high water tables or with channeled backfill. They may often involve system shutdowns, incurring lost revenue and service disruptions. 

Conventional lake or hydrostatic testing methods can use hundreds of gallons of water, which may become contaminated over the course of the test. This product contaminated water comes with many expensive hazardous waste disposal concerns. Conventional hydrostatic testing also cannot detect a leak above the water level and will not work in high water tables.  

In comparison: DPleak™ is certified to detect leaks at a threshold of either 0.1 GPHor0.005GPH, operates in both wet and dry conditions, locates the exact leak location on any part of the sump, requires no test ports or subsurface installation, and never contaminates water or soils. No other testing method is as accurate or comprehensive as DPleak™.  Our leak location technology allows for rapid repair and minimal service disruption.

Advantages

DPleak™ is a Patented Testing Method that is EPA certified. DPleak™ uses a vacuum seal and constant vacuum to find leaks. It takes approximately 30 minutes per sump and does not generate hazardous contaminated water, eliminating the hassle and responsibility required for disposal . 

DPleak™ locates leaks during the test process, so no additional leak location methods or services are required to identify the leak. 

Unlike other forms of testing, the entire containment up to the opening is tested. All the components within the sump are also tested, including the electrical conduits and tank top fittings. This is done at low cost, while the system stays in service.

How It Works

The containment will have a custom seal placed over the opening. The air within the containment is then removed to produce a vacuumDPleak maintains a stable vacuum inside the containment so a perfectly tight seal is not requiredLeaks are then identified, and photographs are taken of each leak found within the containment for accurate and rapid repair. A report is provided that shows each leak including its location with a photograph. If a repair team is also onsite, repairs can be made where needed and the site can be immediately retested and certified. This saves extra trips for repairs and retesting that causes multiple site interruptions. Once passed by DPleak,tight sump will remain tight for years.
